A Chinese company looks set to strip the assets from LDV’s Birmingham base and move production to China.
Receivers from PricewaterhouseCoopers have sold the business to Eco Concept.
With a strategy echoing that of SAIC’s when it bought MG Rover, Eco Concept plans to end mass production at Birmingham in preference to a low volume LCV assembly operation, employing 200 people.
Its focus will be on developing fuel-efficient powertrains
