Auctioneer Aston Barclay Group has successfully completed the rebrand of its three auction sites with a view to increasing market share in the remarketing sector.

The Aston Barclay brand has brought together Westbury, Chelmsford and Prees Heath Motor Auctions which were set up and are still owned by motor industry entrepreneur Les Scarborough.

The company said the rebrand enables Aston Barclay to offer fleet, dealer, contract hire, finance company and manufacturer vendors access to a three-site operation that provides a range of car and light commercial vehicle remarketing services.

This includes a new online service.

“Prees Heath and Westbury offer vendors sites that geographically aren’t served by any other auction supplier, while our new site at Chelmsford has scope to extend beyond its strong following among dealer and light commercial vendors,” explained Les Scarborough, chief executive of Aston Barclay.

“Selling around 60,000 vehicles each year for a number of high profile vendors effectively makes us the third largest remarketing company in England.

"We don’t envisage becoming the largest remarketing company or indeed buying the largest supplier in the market, but our three sites are all set for steady growth over the coming years,” he added.

Investment across the Aston Barclay network includes a three-acre extension to its Shropshire based Prees Heath site, while the 10-acre Westbury operation is set to double the size of its viewing canopy by mid-2010.

The Chelmsford site will receive many improvements to the premises during 2010.
