Nissan is to cut 20,000 jobs worldwide following a sharp fall in sales.

The company has not said which plants will be affected or by how much, reports the BBC website

The cuts will be made between March this year and March 2010 and reduces Nissan's global workforce from 235,000 to 215,000.

Unions will also be spoken to about cutting working hours.

Last month Nissan announced 1,200 job cuts at its UK plant in Sunderland.
