Automotive insurance supplier Global Insurance Management is seeing a resurgence in activity in point-of-sale insurance products.

Global recently changed its name from Lumley Auto after deciding the title no longer reflected its operations, which span 20 countries and several industries.

John Gilbert, Global managing director, said: “The economic downturn has brought a lot of focus back to point-of-sale insurance pro-ducts and we’ve noticed dealers making more enquiries to take advantage of some of the upselling opportunities.

“Some dealer groups are very good at selling insurance products, but some aren’t yet where they should be through lack of suitable systems and training.”

The company now has separate divisions, including a motor division which provides manufacturers and dealers with GAP insurance, mechanical breakdown cover, tyre and key insurance for cars, HGVs and even coaches.

It works with dealer groups such as Lookers, Sytner and Agnew Group and offers training to support companies which use its services.

Global has AXA Insurance as its underwriting partner, which has helped it to build operations throughout Europe and the Middle East.
