Ford and Jaguar Land Rover are among 20 UK companies praised for their family-friendly policies towards employees.

The two carmakers have been recognised by Working Families, the charity which aims to help companies encourage the work-life balance.

The 20 winners of the Top Employers for Working Families awards were chosen from nominations by peers, employees and experts.

Ford provides 52 weeks maternity leave on full pay for new mothers in its employment, while new fathers receive two weeks paternity leave on full pay. Flexible working is open to everyone in the company, and the carmaker has a robust policy on encouraging a diverse workforce, including helplines for staff suffering harrassment.

Jaguar Land Rover supports families through its flexible working hours, class-leading maternity and adoption leave provision, childcare voucher system and nurseries at two of its sites. It also offers career breaks and an emergency care scheme for dependants, and it annually recognises the efforts of individuals and teams who have made an outstanding contribution towards the company's goal of creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
