Adrian Wilkes has been elected president of the Federation of Engine Remanufacturers.

Wilkes is managing director of family-owned Gosnay's Engineering Company in Essex.

He succeeds John Gray, managing director of Owslebury Crankshaft Services of Winchester, who stands down after two years in office.

Immediate challenges for the new president include the need to boost member recruitment and to address new threats to the supply of core material, such as the UK vehicle scrappage scheme.

"Vehicle manufacturers are controlling increasingly significant volumes of core and make no mistake, this will be a major problem for engine remanufacturers and engine rebuilders in the not too distant future," said Wilkes.

Gosnay's Engineering Company celebrates 75 years in business next year.
