Vertu Motors is to acquire its first dealership in Scotland following the proposed acquisition of Boydslaw 103 Limited for £2.7 million.

Boydslaw is the parent company of Dunfermline Autocentre which operates a Ford dealership in Dunfermline.

Robert Forrester, Vertu chief executive officer, was already a shareholder in Boydslaw and owns 19.6% of its issued share capital.

Completion of the acquisition is conditional upon shareholder approval at a general meeting which will be held on January 29.

Paul Williams, chairman of Vertu Motors, said: "We are excited about the opportunities to scale the group that this acquisition represents.

"Dunfermline Autocentre is a profitable, well run dealership, and this acquisition represents a key strategic move for the group in establishing a presence in Scotland.

"It also strengthens our Ford offering which would take us to operating 17 dealerships for the franchise."
