The amount of information provided to dealers on tyre labelling and marketing materials is to increase.

A new European Union regulation will insist that by November 2012, tyres must be graded by their fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise performance, with the information displayed at the point of sale and on technical promotional literature, said a European Commission communiqué.

The aim is to encourage consumers to demand higher quality tyres, which though more expensive, will save money through fuel consumption.
