Sytner Group is taking over Pendragon’s Maidenhead BMW/Mini business.

The deal is expected to be completed in January. It takes Sytner’s representation of BMW/Mini up to 16 sites.
All staff at the business will transfer to Sytner.

Gerard Nieuwenhuys, Sytner’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of acquiring an exciting BMW and Mini business.”

Pendragon originally planned the sale in 2007 when it agreed with BMW to reorganise its southern operations. However, it was postponed due to economic conditions.

Trevor Finn, chief executive, said: “Our remaining BMW operations are not affected. We enjoy a very strong relationship with BMW which is the longest established franchise in the group and one we hope to grow when the opportunity arises.”
Proceeds from the sale will be used to reduce group borrowings.

Tim Abbott, BMW UK managing director, added: “We enjoy a strong relationship with Pendragon and its dealerships are doing a good job for us in the north of England. We would not rule out working together in another area should a suitable opportunity arise in the future.”
