Bristol Seat & Skoda has been bought by Blade Motor Group for an undisclosed sum.

The single-site business which represents the two brands in Bristol strengthens Blade’s portfolio of Volkswagen Group brands and is its first venture into the city.

Mike Flanagan, Blade Motor Group managing director, said: “We have a strong relationship with Volkswagen UK and this will be our first experience of the Skoda brand. We look forwarding to welcoming our new colleagues at the site into our business.”

Blade holds the franchises for Alfa Romeo, Honda, Isuzu, SsangYong, Subaru, Seat, Volkswagen, Audi and now Skoda.

David Kendrick, transaction manager at ASE which represented the seller, said: “It certainly looks like the transactional activity in the sector is picking up, with a number of interesting conversations being had currently.

"The acquisition of Bristol Seat and Skoda see’s yet another single site operation being acquired by a larger group.”

The latest available accounts show Bristol Seat & Skoda having a turnover of £5 million in 2008. It has been sold two years after its formation.
