Mercedes-Benz will show its next generation CLS four-door coupe at September's Paris Motor Show.

With the current CLS's launch in 2003, Mercedes created a new vehicle segment which combined gorgeous coupe looks with the comfort and functionality of a saloon.

Global sales reached 170,000 units.

The new CLS is expected to reach UK showrooms in 2011.

Mercedes says the new CLS builds on the pioneering role of its predecessor yet at the same time is an entirely new edition. "The new CLS points the way forward for the future perceptible design idiom of Mercedes-Benz," explains Professor Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz.

"At the same time it takes its inspiration from the great tradition of stylish, refined sportiness which has always been a feature of Mercedes coupés."
