Renault’s first electric vehicle to launch in the UK, the Kangoo ZE van, will be priced at £16,990 excluding VAT and the battery will be leased for a monthly payment of £59.

Commercial vehicles do not qualify for the £5,000 incentive from the Government. However, all electric LCVs are eligible for 100% capital write-down allowance.

The £59 a month lease for the battery is based over a four year/9,000 mile per year contract. First deliveries are expected in the summer next year.

The Kangoo Van ZE, which is available to pre-order now, is 4.21m long with a load capacity of between 3 and 3.5 m3, a load length of 2.50m and a payload of 650 kg.

The batteries are located in the centre of the vehicle under the floor, so load capacity is exactly the same as on the internal combustion-engined Kangoo Van.

The design of the Kangoo Van ZE is similar to that of the internal combustion-engined version. A chrome ZE badge at the rear identifies it as a Renault electric vehicle.

The charging flap is located at the front, next to the right hand headlamp. A standard charge via a 220V 16A domestic socket takes between six and eight hours when the vehicle is parked overnight or during working hours. Kangoo Van ZE has a potential range of 100 miles.
