The managing director of Subaru and Isuzu dealership Ian Grieve (Falkirk) Ltd has become the vice president of the Scottish Motor Trade Association.

Ian Grieve joined the association in 2009 and will stand for election as president in June.

The 64-year-old has spent his working life in the motor trade, joining SMT Sales & Service from school and remained there and with its successors Lex Service until 1991 when he acquired the Stirling-based Vauxhall dealership from Lex.

In 1999 he acquired Devonvale Vauxhall in Alloa, followed by the Falkirk site in 2005. The two Vauxhall dealerships were sold to Arnold Clark in 2007.

Grieve said: “The motor industry in Scotland faces many challenges in the coming years but, as a significant employer as well as a major contributor to the wealth of our nation, it is imperative that the board seeks to maintain The Scottish Motor Trade Association at the forefront of the industry in Scotland and I intend to play my part in ensuring that is the case. “
