The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has extended the closing date for the SkillAuto competitions to January 17.
Over 900 individuals have already taken the online test and technicians from across all three competition streams of AutoTech, AutoBody and AutoPaint can enter online at www.autocity.org.uk/skillauto.
The SkillAuto competitions are designed to reflect the latest advancements in technology and business requirements, providing candidates with the opportunity to develop their skills further.
Lesley Woolley, head of professional development, who manage SkillAuto activity at the IMI, said: “We have already seen a record number of entries so far but the recent bad weather in many parts of the country prevented many from getting into college or work.
“We have made the decision to extend the closing date for the competition streams to ensure that as many technicians as possible have the opportunity to enter and make this years’ competition the best yet.”
Würth UK has also been announced as a new sponsor of the AutoTech stream of SkillAuto.
They join existing sponsors IMI Awards Limited who continue to support the competition.
A number of other organisations in the sector have also offered to assist with the competition process offering a range of support including the use of their facilities, donating equipment and providing judges.
