Managing director Angela Barrow led a multi-million pound management buyout that took service plan provider Emac out of the ownership of a group of private investors.

A number of investment firms courted the management team at Emac, which has built a customer database of over 40,000.

Barrow said Crewe-based Emac employs 55 people and is growing rapidly – this year’s turnover will be close to £5m.

She plans to expand the company’s core service plan business and move into other support services. Acquisitions are possible.

Barrow said: “We are focused on supplying service plans in various formats.”

Competition in service plan provision is growing, but she said Emac is the market leader: “Before we established scalable technology and processes, these plans had largely failed to make an impact,” she said.
