AM100 dealer group Reeve (Derby) has secured a deal to move its Pentagon Vauxhall dealership in Rochdale as part of the town's regeneration project.

Rochdale Council has agreed terms to buy Pentagon's existing property on Johns Street, which had been identified as a key acquisition in the regeneration of the town centre, which will include a shopping and leisure scheme.

As a result, the Vauxhall dealership will move to new premises, formerly home to a Mitsubishi dealership, at Queensway on December 2. The site has also sold Skoda and MG Rover.

Pentagon said nearly all the existing jobs at Rochdale's Vauxhall business will be safeguarded by being transferred to the Queensway premises or to nearby depots in Chadderton and Oldham.

Chairman Trevor Reeve said: "We are delighted to still be in Rochdale. Since we came to the town in 2004 we have built strong relationships with our customers here, and this new opportunity will really help us to exceed their expectations."

Tony Hindley of Hindley Lawrence acted on behalf of Pentagon and Keppie Massie and Rochdale Development Agency acted on behalf of the council.
