Straiton-based Alex F Noble Nissan has sold a Leaf to a customer in the Shetland Isles that is charging the car with sustainable electricity generated by a 2.5kw wind turbine. Jim Dickson and his new Nissan Leaf at Aberdeen Harbour.

The newly registered Leaf was delivered to Aberdeen Harbour by Alex F Noble, before making the 12-hour ferry journey to Lerwick.

Shetland Isles resident Jim Dickson said: “The purchase of our Leaf is another stage in trying to reduce our household carbon footprint.

“It is also to combat the relentless rise in transport costs - we pay £1.52 per litre for diesel here in Shetland.”

Alex F Noble Nissan EV relationship manager, Jim Rowan said: “Having supplied Leafs to companies and private individuals across the Scottish mainland, it’s great to see one of our cars making the long journey up to the Shetland Isles.

“Hopefully Mr Dickson will be an ambassador for the benefits of electric vehicles, and I know he’s already enjoying the savings of fuelling his car entirely with renewable energy.”
