Citroen dealers are offering customers extended test drives for 24 or 48 hours on its DS5 model to help boost sales.

The initiative is in partnership with Dayinsure and has been part of the DS5’s launch strategy.

The DS5 is primarily a fleet model with 900 of its year-to-date sales of 1,200 coming from the corporate market.

The DS range now accounts for almost a third of Citroen sales. The DS4 has sold almost 2,500 units while the DS3 has been the most popular model in the range with sales of almost 15,000 year-to-date.

James Birch, manager of business programmes for Citro?n, said: “The extended test drive is an essential part of the New Citro?n DS5 launch.

“Usually, dealer insurance only covers test drives for accompanied test drives. However, with the new insurance offering, our dealers can let customers test drive the car over a day or two, which means they can experience all of DS5’s features and benefits, and how the car performs, over a longer period and in a range of driving conditions.

“They can also test it to see if the boot is big enough for all important items like golf clubs or the family’s bags for a weekend away.”
