Autotrade-mail, the online used car trading network, warns that dealers who only use auctions to dispose of their part exchange vehicles may be compromising the values achieved.

The Trader Media Group company said rather than focus on physical auctions for disposal, dealers can opt for the broad audience of by a used car trading network to determine the likely wholesale value of a part exchange, and the demand for that vehicle, before the deal is even completed.

Kevin Watson, operations director at Autotrade-mail said: “By limiting the disposal of a part exchange vehicle to an auction a dealer may be compromising the value of that vehicle.

"Buyer attendance numbers at auction, both physical and online, rarely exceed 500 while Autotrade-mail, for example has 5,000 franchised and independent dealers looking for stock on a daily basis. Using complementary remarketing channels will provide a much larger buyer audience to help a dealer to maximise the value of the part exchange vehicle.”
