Carwow has partnered with disability discount provider Purpl to incentivise disabled drivers who sell their cars through the platform.
Purpl members who sell their car through Carwow will receive a £115 Amazon voucher, while helping to inject fresh used stock into Carwow’s daily online auctions.
There are 16.1 million disabled people in the UK, and living with a disability costs, on average, an extra £1,000 each month.
Driving plays a crucial role in enabling independence, with 60% of disabled people aged 17 or over holding a full driving licence as of 2023.
However, not all are eligible for the Motability scheme, which makes it essential that disabled drivers have the flexibility to buy or sell vehicles in line with changing needs.
Sally Foote, Carwow chief commercial officer at Carwow, said: “We know how important mobility is, especially for disabled drivers, and we’re proud to partner with Purpl to make our highly popular ‘Sell My Car’ service even more attractive to disabled drivers.
"This collaboration gives our dealer partners even more opportunities to source reliable, high-standard vehicles.”
Georgina Colman, founder of Purpl, said: “When I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, I had to adjust to a new lifestyle, and driving was vital to my independence.
"I know firsthand that mobility needs can change in an instant, and not all disabled people are eligible for Motability, so it's important to be able to buy or sell cars as needed.
"This offer not only helps our members get the best price for their car but also puts an extra £115 in their pocket – a hopefully meaningful contribution towards the higher cost of living that disabled people face every day.”
