Chris Craft has been announced as the new managing director of Porsche Cars GB.

Craft will head the UK sales company, and its five outlet Porsche Retail Group, effective from April 1.

He has been director of Volkswagen UK since 2008, prior to which he headed its smaller sister brand Skoda.

Felix Bräutigam, Porsche's director for Europe, said: "Great Britain is the fourth biggest market for Porsche and a very important sports car market for us. We are happy to have found an experienced automotive manager with an in-depth knowledge of this market."

Porsche GB's previous managing director Andy Goss left for Jaguar Land Rover in spring 2011, since when the company has been headed by Geoff Turral, who is set to leave the carmaker at the end of March.
