Volkswagen has revealed more details about its Cross Coupe concept which will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show this week.

The model made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show with a plug-in petrol-electric hybrid system, but the latest version features an even more frugal plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

The Cross Coupé Concept is powered by a turbodiesel direct injection engine (TDI) and two electric motors.

VW claims the Cross Coupé Concept would be able to manage 157mpg and has CO2 emissions of 46 g/km in a 304bhp SUV which has a top speed of 137mph.

Further details will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show tomorrow.
