With gross profit margins which are almost a fifth above the network’s top 10% of performers for used car sales, Essex dealership Grants Seat is a success story.

When it comes to vehicle sales the Essex dealer is one of the most profitable in the manufacturer’s network with latest figures showing 7% more gross profit per unit than the top 10% of dealers for new car sales while for used that figure is 19% higher than the other top Seat dealer performers.

Grants’ managing director Darren Williams will be on hand at this year’s AM Used Car Market Conference, which takes place at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on October 9, to share the key to his success.

He said: “The profit success is purely down to the optimiser system that we use to calculate the maximum profit in every deal without costing the customer more money.”

The business utilises software from Reef Business Systems, which calculates all the variables including elements such as VAT and the part exchange and illustrates how to generate more profit in a deal without costing the customer anymore as well as identifying the finance partner which would deliver the highest commission.

Williams told AM: “It is extremely complex but the software calculates it all and is very simple to use and understand.

"I have met some very capable business managers who can arrive at these calculations using just a pen and paper but most people do not have the capability to work at that level and the system arrives at the solution in just a matter of seconds.”

The system will be demonstrated at the event, showing how the maths can make a difference to the bottom line. Williams will also provide details of the success Grants has achieved with the system and will answer delegate questions.
