South Wales-based dealer Griffin Mill has appointed James Courtney to the position of general manager for its Skoda and Nissan franchises.

Opened in August 2012, the group says its Basecamp site in Pontypridd ‘represents the foundations of a wider growth plan’ and has posted ‘outstanding sales’ for Skoda and the newly added Nissan brand.

Its nearby Summit location, next to the A470, holds Peugeot, Kia and Fiat franchises.

Courtney spent 12 years at Dutton Forshaw and moves across from Griffin Mill’s Summit site, where he was sales manager for Kia.

Courtney commented: “As a relatively new site for Griffin Mill, they have had a fantastic start. The timing is perfect and ours are exciting brands with big aspirations.

“After working for bigger groups and PLCs, the philosophy here is a nice change, as are the ties to the local community like our sponsorship of Pontypridd Rugby Club. It’s very refreshing.”
