Vuhl, the new track focussed car brand based in Mexico, is looking to appoint specialist UK dealers to sell its 05 mid-engined two-seater sports car.

The Vuhl 05 will go up against niche models for the track and the road like the Ariel Atom, KTM X-Bow and the UK will be its biggest market, initially. The new model will go on sale in North America too.

Prices for the UK have been confirmed at £55,000 (plus tax and shipping). Vuhl will be offering “a wide range of performance options to allow the 05 to be upgraded for personal taste”. The 05 will likely sell in very small numbers.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre version of Ford’s DOHC turbocharged EcoBoost engine, the output of which is 285bhp and 420Nm of torque, giving a power to weight ratio of 400bhp per tonne.

This results in a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 152.2mph. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Interior specification is sparse due to the track focused design of the car, so petrol heads will get carbon bucket seats; 330mm quick release water-resistant suede-covered steering wheel; electronic data acquisition dash; integral HD camera; and water-resistant Dinamica suede trim.

The Vuhl 05 will make its global debut at the Good wood Festival of Speed on July 11. Orders are being taken fir delivery  in spring 2014.
