Manheim has approved a ‘multi-million pound’ consumer marketing plan to make its Motors (.co.uk) website a household name.

As part of the project Clark Wood, until recently chief marketing officer of AutoTrader .com (owned by Cox Enterprises, the parent company of Manheim, with no affiliation to AutoTrader UK), will be working closely with the Motors team.

He commented: “Significant investment in consumer marketing has been key to building AutoTrader .com’s position as the best known car buying website in the US and it is clear that this opportunity awaits Motors too.

“I have been impressed by the passion of the people and product roadmap and am excited to be part of building another major consumer brand.”

Andy Coulthurst, managing director at Motors told AM: “We have now been working for over six months on a plan to grow the business and we have had sign off since the middle of July for the investment.

This investment will be to the benefit of the dealers advertising on the site and it will drive brand awareness significantly.

"This is not a short term flash, it's a long term TV campaign. We’ll be more visible than brands like We Buy Any Car and Moonpig on across television."
