Lancashire motor group Bowker has bought land adjacent to its BMW and Mini dealerships in Preston ready to expand.

The land will accommodate its new BMW Motorrad motorcycle business which it acquired in August, which currently trades as Southport Superbikes.

Bowker Motor Group chief executive Paul Bowker said: “Combining the two sites was an irresistible opportunity. Thousands of people pass the entrance to Preston Docks every day.

“We are planning to build a new motorcycle dealership that will be worthy of such a prestigious location."

In the last year Bowker Motor Group has already spent more than £1.5 million expanding and refurbishing the existing BMW and Mini showrooms at the site, reported the Lancashire Evening Post.

Earlier this year the dealer group opened Lancashire's first Maserati dealership in Osbaldeston near Blackburn.
