A Dumfries used car dealer who used his business to launder £150,000 gained from criminal activity has been jailed.

Michael Handley, 39, committed the offence through Lochthorn Car Sales in Locharbriggs between May 2003 and December 2006.

Judge Lord Turnbull at Glasgow's High Court described the operation as a "sophisticated scam".

Handley's three and a half year sentence will run from the end of a six-year jail term he is currently serving for assault.
