Bentley has appointed Wolfgang Durheimer as its new chairman and chief executive.

Durheimer will start the position on June 1 and moves from his position as general representative of the Volkswagen Group responsible for motorsport. His position will also include responsibility for Bugatti.

Durheimer will take over from Dr Wolfgang Schreiber who will “take up a leading position within the Volkswagen Group”.

Durheimer has previously worked at Porsche and Bugatti, where he led the engineering teams for the first and second generations of the Porsche Cayenne.

Bentley is expected to introduce its first SUV to global markets in the next couple of years and will share its platform with the third-generation Cayenne.
