Hawkins Motor Group acquires Town & Country Nissan dealership in Truro

Town & Country by Hawkins Nissan dealer principal Andrew Niven

Hawkins Motor Group has added a new brand to its franchised car dealership portfolio with the completion of a deal to acquire Town & Country Nissan.

The St Austell-based family business, which already listed Citroen, Hyundai, Kia, Peugeot, MG and Mitsubishi among its brands, has acquired the Town & Country business located just off the A30, Truro.

Now renamed as ‘Town & Country by Hawkins’, the newly-acquired dealership is headed by dealer principal Andrew Niven (pictured).

Niven has joined Hawkins Motor Group having previously worked within the Pendragon business, where he previously held head of business positions at Stratstone Land Rover Mayfair and Stratstone Jaguar Cheltenham, before assuming the role of dealer principal at Evans Halshaw Vauxhall in Plymouth and Saltash.

Commenting on his new appointment, Niven said: “I’m delighted to be joining Hawkins and especially Nissan as it has significance for me in that I started my automotive career in the late 1980’s with Nissan in Cornwall and it’s great to be back this fantastic brand again.”

Town & Country is the latest addition to the Hawkins brand portfolio, following the opening of MG (in Hayle) dealership in a COVID-impacted 2020.

In a statement issued to AM this morning (February 17), the Hawkins Motor Group said Town & Country had been a familiar name in Cornwall with the family business representing Nissan for over 30 years.

Hawkins Group director, Johnny Hawkins, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Town & Country into Hawkins Motor Group, being a local family business we share many of the same values and this is reflected by their great reputation and loyal, long standing customers.

“We would like to assure all the Town & Country customers that they will continue to receive the same great service they have been accustomed to and that the familiar friendly faces they know in the sales and service teams will be there as normal to look after them.”

Hawkins added: “We have some exciting plans to take the business and Nissan brand further, the first of which being our opening of a second Nissan dealership Hawkins Penryn to serve the South West of the county.”
