Mercedes-Benz Cars has named Inchcape South Midlands as Retailer of the Year at the annual Mercedes-Benz Retailer Awards.

The South Midlands arm of the Inchcape group (its team pictured above), which has sites at Oxford, Coventry and Stratford-upon-Avon, won thanks to the “customer-focused dedication of everyone across the business, from those on the reception desk to the valeters to the sales staff to the management team”.

Gary Savage, Mercedes-Benz Cars UK chief executive, said: “Inchcape South Midlands has had an exceptional year. That’s all the more impressive for the fact that this has been an outstanding year for all of our Retailer partners, making Inchcape the very best.

“They’ve achieved what they have by commitment and hard work across the company. They think and act like part of the Mercedes-Benz family, and embody the values which we encourage throughout the Mercedes-Benz Retailer Network.”

Lookers of Sussex was named Smart Retailer of the Year.

Last year was a record year for Smart in the UK, with more than 12,000 cars sold.

Savage said: “Lookers put as big an effort into selling our smallest car as they did in everything else. This smart attitude helped achieve a big success.”

Other winners on the night were Inchcape (North West), which was named Service and Parts Team of the Year; Lancaster, which took the prize for Mercedes-AMG Team of the Year; and Sandown (Dorset and Wiltshire), which took Customer Service Team of the Year.
