Listers Group suffered a new year set-back at its Solihull Land Rover site after the facility suffered the effects of a fire.

Footage posted on Twitter by eye witnesses showed flames and a series of explosions at the dealership on Stratford Road, Shirley, on the evening of December 30.

The Birmingham Mail reported that the fire had started at about 10.20pm and fire chiefs told bystanders to keep away from the site as around ten cars were seen to suffer the effects of the blaze.

Eye witness Matt Hargreaves, who recorded the scene on his smartphone, said that he was alerted to the incident after hearing loud bangs.

Hargreaves said that it was his belief that the fire had affected an area to the rear of the Listers facility where cars are stored outside “in the corner away from the showroom”.

The Listers Land Rover dealership in Solihull was open for business today (January 2), but representatives offered no comment on the incident.
