SsangYong has added two new dealerships in Scotland with the appointment of Lawrence of Kemnay as a new franchisee and the addition of a second Frasers of Edinburgh site to its network.

The Korean 4x4 brand said that it was placing increased emphasis on Scotland after adding the new franchised sites in Edinburgh and Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, to its portfolio of retailer partners.

Frasers’ new addition is the second SsangYong dealership within its business, having joined the brand three years ago.

The group is already SsangYong’s largest dealer in Scotland with a successful base 27 miles away, in Falkirk.

Andrew Dickson, director and dealer principal of Frasers, said: “The decision was an easy one to make.

“While it’s quite a commitment to take on a new franchise in a capital city, we have a proven track record with SsangYong.

“We know what we can do with the range and want to grow our customer base and expand.”

Dickinson said that SsangYong offered “great value for money” and offered “a superb product line-up”, adding: “Already awarded ‘4x4 of the Year’, Rexton is exceptionally good-value in comparison to what else is on the market, while the Tivoli is in a very popular segment of the market.

“We also have the new Musso pick-up to look forward to, while the Korando has an exceptionally good reputation within the caravanning fraternity and we get a huge amount of repeat business.  Winning Towcar of the Year was huge.”

Gavin Chalmers, dealer principal of Lawrence of Kemnay, said: “We are very pleased to have taken on the SsangYong franchise, and greatly look forward to growing our business as a result.

“SsangYong has a great range, and with very competitive pricing and a 5-year limitless mileage warranty on every car, we believe it will do extremely well in Aberdeenshire.”

Nick Laird, managing director of SsangYong Motor UK, welcomed the two new retailers to the Ssangyong network. He said: “Value for money brands have historically done extremely well in Scotland, and we are delighted Frasers have decided to expand into Edinburgh, and also very pleased to now have Lawrence of Kemnay representing us further north in Inverurie; they have huge local presence and a long history of retailing.”
