Lookers has unveiled its plans for a new Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Arch Concept dealership facility in Buckinghamshire.

Development of the new 16,193 square foot facility at Aston Clinton is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

The new multi-million-pound dealership replace the AM100 group’s Jaguar and Land Rover sites in nearby Amersham and Chipperfield, with around 90 staff being transferred to the new dual-branded development.

Niral Patel, Head of Business at Amersham Jaguar and Chipperfield Land Rover, said: “We’re very excited about this new development, which will cement our position as the primary Jaguar Land Rover retailer in the Buckinghamshire area.

“The Arch dealership will be the perfect place to showcase JLR’s ever growing range of prestige cars and, with the so many exiting additions expected this year, the future of both Jaguar and Land Rover looks very bright.”

Lookers has further cemented its relationship with JLR through a number of Arch Concept dealership developments in recent months.

The group opened a Jaguar dealership in Hillington, Glasgow, just over a year ago and recently completed the redevelopment of a Land Rover dealership in Motherwell.

In March, Jaguar Land Rover managing director Rawdon Glover told AM that the manufacturer’s Arch Concept car dealership network restructure, which called on over £1 billion of investment from its franchised partners, remained just 60% complete despite hopes that an "aggressive" original schedule would deliver changes to almost every retail site by the end of 2018.

The plan should see the number of retail locations representing the manufacturer’s brands reduce from 211 to around 125.

But Glover conceded: “We’re 60% of the way through the Arch journey.

“We’ll see another 20 Arch sites opened over the next 12 months. The original plan was to be done by now.

“When we set off it was an extremely aggressive timeline but things like gaining planning permission and finding the volume of new sites that our retailers required for relocations has taken time.

“There are lots of reasons why it has taken a little longer than envisaged.”

Lookers new site will deliver a host of new services and technologies to its JLR customer base in Buckinghamshire.

Once completed, customers will be able to browse 18 new car models split between the two brands, while there will also be space for over 100 used cars to be displayed outside – the highest number of any JLR site in the UK.

Visiting customers will also have use of 30 parking spaces, while aftersales will be catered for by a 30 bay workshop.

The new showroom will be built around Jaguar Land Rover’s new corporate identity, which puts customers at the heart of the retail experience with exciting architectural innovation, and a stylish, eye-catching scheme.

New handover bays will also allow customers to have their cars revealed to them before driving directly out of the showroom doors.
