The new 10-car showroom, which will be adjacent to the retailer’s current temporary premises on Cumnor Hill, will boast a lounge area with Scandinavian furniture, free Wi-Fi, Swedish cakes and coffee in-line with Volvo Car UK's Volvo Retail Experience (VRE) corporate identity.

Development of the new facility comes just eight months after group managing director John O'Hanlon led the acquisition of the Oxford Volvo franchise from former operator Johnson's Cars.

Waylands Oxford’s general manager, Dominic Gouldsborough, said: “The team and I are all very excited that construction work has begun on our new showroom, which has been designed to make our customers feel even more relaxed and at ease.

"We cannot wait to welcome them into our new home.”

The new Volvo showroom will feature large exterior and interior glazing to allow customers to see all activity taking place in the new workshops, which will feature the very latest equipment.

During the construction of the new site, the current dealership will remain fully operational.
