Three raiders targeted desirable Ford Focus ST performance cars when they broke into the Formula One Car Supermarket in Falkirk.

They got away with two of the hot hatchbacks on Saturday night, after abandoning a third car nearby.

Owner Lee Sinclair told the Falkirk Herald's journalists: "It’s hard enough right now for businesses out there trying to get by without people breaking in and stealing cars."

Like many motor retailers, the family-run dealership, which has been in the town for 17 years, has had its showroom locked down by Scotland's coronavirus counter-measures and has been reliant on click-and-collect sales.

Reports suggest the thieves broke through the gate and damaged another car while gaining access to the fast Ford cars.

The stolen Ford Focus STs – one white, one blue – bore the registration plates BT13 WYC and YC13 EAF.

The total cost of the loss and damage could amount to £50,000, the Falkirk Herland reported.
