Outstanding women shaping the future of automotive – that’s what it’s all about.

Nominations are now open for Cox Automotive’s prestigious Barbara Cox “Woman of the Year” Award 2024, honouring inspirational women in European automotive.

Named after the late Barbara Cox – a former director of Cox Enterprises, Cox Automotive’s parent company in the US – the prize recognises and rewards women who demonstrate a commitment to innovation, leadership and community within the sector.

Now in its sixth year, the award sees Cox Automotive Europe once again team up with AM and Fleet News.

Do you know a deserving candidate?

This is your chance to honour a female colleague or, indeed, someone working elsewhere in the industry who you think exemplifies the three qualities mentioned above. Submitted nominations are welcome for any woman working within European automotive until the closing date of Friday 26 April 2024.

The winner will be chosen by a judging panel including past winners and announced at a special event on Wednesday 5 June 2024. In addition to gaining recognition across the industry, the recipient will also receive £5,000 to spend on her personal development.

Last year’s winner was Sara Sloman, Chief Strategy officer at EV fintech business Paythru. Sara was one of six women shortlisted from more than 50 entries. Sara joined an impressive list of females to win the award, including Caroline Burnell, Head of Marketing & Communications at eStar Truck & Van, Alison Jones, Senior Vice-President – Global Circular Economy at Stellantis; Lorna McAtear, Fleet Manager – National Grid; and Beryl Carney, Head of VW Commercial Vehicles at JCT600 Ltd.

Sam Panayides, Cox Automotive Sales Director and chair of Women with Drive, said: “It gives me great pleasure to once again open nominations for the Barbara Cox Woman of the Year Award.

“It’s an award unique in the sector and one that amplifies the qualities of inclusion, diversion and equality that underpin everything we do as a business.

“Celebrating the incredible achievements of women in our sector helps all of us to grow and improve. Please nominate someone you think is a great leader, a woman who gives back to her community and inspires others to do the same, just as Barbara Cox did.”
