Training provider Get the Edge has teamed up with the Institute of the Motor Industry to launch a new management training programme designed to help used vehicle dealers thrive as markets change.

The IMI Quality Assured Used Vehicle Management Programme has been created as the used car market reaches the long-predicted tipping point into oversupply which, according to Glass’s, will put pressure on values.

The two-day workshop promises to help dealers understand the dynamics of this new market place to grow their sales and profits. Sales staff will also benefit from a better understanding of the industry as they work towards their next role.

Jon Davies, managing director of Get the Edge (pictured), said: “It has never been so important to arm your team with the skills needed to ensure operational success across the business.

“We identified an overwhelming need for the development of skills within the used vehicle market and recently ran a pilot of this programme with a leading dealer group.

“They’ve since quit their original approach and opted to start all over again by implementing a used vehicle strategy that will put them on the road to success.

“This programme has been designed by people who truly understand used vehicles and we are confident we will help any business to thrive in the challenging times ahead.”

Get the Edge believes that a failure to act will not only impact the used performance of dealer groups, but could also have a detrimental effect on both new vehicle and after-sales departments.
