The new model hints at the next-generation Impreza, as well as future styling for Subaru’s next models.

Subaru already posted a concept sketch of the Impreza, but these are pictures from the show floor.

The new Impreza is expected to be built on a new platform which the brand will use for all of its core models and could be on sale with UK dealers before the end of 2016.

Subaru has gone from a 10,000 units a year franchise in the UK in 2001 down to 2,793 units last year. However, Subaru is on track to out do its 2014 performance this year, with a year-to-date figure of 2,734 units.

The latest models shown at the Tokyo Motor Show can be viewed in AM's gallery.
