MG Motor UK has thanked dealers in playing their part in making the GS SUV the fastest-selling MG model of the brand’s “modern era”.

Launched at The London Motor Show in May 2016, the family car has now surpassed 500 unit sales in 176 days and that is cause for celebration for the brand, which is owned by China’s SAIC Motor Corporation.

Matthew Cheyne, head of sales and marketing at MG Motor UK, said: “Surpassing the 500-unit milestone faster than any other MG model in the modern era shows a highly positive market outlook, as well as considerable demand for a fun yet sophisticated SUV.

“However, we couldn’t have achieved such impressive sales volumes without the support of our national distributor network, which has continued to play an instrumental part in the promotion and sales of each model in the MG family.

“For this reason, I would like to extend my personal thanks to each dealership within the group.”

MG Motor UK recently announced as the country’s sixth fastest-growing automotive business, reporting 4,035 year-to-date vehicle registrations – already 956 units more than 2015.

Prices for the GS start at £14,995 and the SUV is currently available with 0% APR with a 20% deposit on a PCP finance offer.
