Vertu Motors’ new strategy development director Martin Wastie is looking forward to a “bright future” with the firm.

Wastie has joined the fast growing automotive retailer – which has a network of 119 outlets across the UK – to manage the acquisition pipeline, review developmental opportunities for the existing network and develop other non-core elements of the business.

Martin Wastie said: “I am exceptionally pleased to be joining Vertu Motors at such an exciting time for the business. Its consistent growth over the last few years has been fantastic and the future looks equally as bright.”

Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu Motors plc, said: “Martin has a wealth of experience as a director.  He knows the business and the sector exceptionally well and I’m sure he will be an invaluable asset to Vertu Motors as we continue to grow and develop.”

Until recently Wastie was finance director of the Marshall Motor Group, where he oversaw four years of continuous growth.

A chartered accountant, he has also held positions at Volkswagen Group UK and international automotive distributor and retailer Inchcape.

Prior to joining Vertu on a permanent basis in November, Wastie had already worked with Gateshead-based Vertu Motors on a number of projects, including the £12.8 million acquisition of South Hereford Garages in October.
