Lotus has announced the appointment of Geoff Dowding as global sales and aftersales director, reporting to Lotus Cars chief executive, Phil Popham.

Dowding (pictured) joins from Al Habtoor Motors, one of the largest distributors in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he was chief operating officer.

Prior to this, he held a variety of senior roles with brands including VW, Nissan, Porsche, Harley-Davidson and Bentley.

Dowding said: “I am looking forward to being part of the team that will lead Lotus into a new future that is full of potential with new cars and new horizons, starting with the recently announced Type 130 hyper car.”

At Bentley he played a “pivotal role” in the development of the specialist Mulliner business and in establishing the brand’s expanding dealer network around the world during his 18 years with the company.

Lotus Cars’ chief executive, Phil Popham, said: “With Geoff’s proven track record and experience with luxury automotive brands, volume producers and niche players, he brings a depth and breadth of experience to our business.

"He will play a fundamental role in the future global sales and aftersales operations of Lotus as we enter a new era of expansion.”

Lotus’ recruitment drive is continuing with new positions available across the company in multiple locations in the UK and internationally.
