Johan Sundstrand, CEO and co-founder of automotive AI video specialist Phyron, is stepping down after six years at the helm.
Sundstrand co-founded Phyron in 2019 and has since steered the business from ambitious start-up to global leader in automated video solutions for car retailers.
Under his leadership, Phyron developed a fully automated AI-powered video platform for automotive retail, now used by more than 4,000 dealerships across 35 countries. The platform produces over 700,000 videos a month and has delivered more than 500 million views since 2021.
Sundstrand has championed the role of AI in reshaping car retail, regularly speaking on automation, data-driven marketing, and the digital transformation of the sector. His leadership guided Phyron through two successful funding rounds and helped establish the company as a key technology partner.
“It’s been an incredible journey to help build Phyron from the ground up,” said Sundstrand. “We set out to transform automotive retail with automation and a smart video platform. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and confident the company is in strong hands for its next chapter.”
Co-founder Mattias Kellquist will step into the CEO role, bringing continuity and deep product knowledge. Kellquist has worked closely with Sundstrand since the company’s inception and is set to lead Phyron through its next phase of innovation and growth.
“I want to thank Johan for his vision, energy and drive,” said Kellquist. “We’ve built something special at Phyron. I’m excited to lead the next phase of growth and continue supporting our customers with innovative video and marketing solutions.”
