Review

The biggest selling point for the HDi 90 version of the 308 is its low running costs.

The engine has a CO2 output of 120g/km, which puts it in the £35 vehicle excise duty bracket. While it’s not easy to reach the claimed 62.7mpg, it’s possible to regularly get more than 50mpg – good going for an engine with quite a bit of poke.

The S comes with a lot more standard equipment in comparison to the very basic Urban, including ESP, air conditioning, front fog lights, body- coloured door mirrors and handles and 15-inch wheels with Atacama wheel trims.
