Vauxhall/Opel is to unveil a sports car concept called the Astra Coupe OPC X-Treme at the Geneva motor show (March 1-11).

The road-going two seater (pictured below) is based on the Astra Coupe V8 racing car that last season successfully competed in the German Touring Car Masters (DTM).

The concept has a 4.0-litre V8 engine, rear-wheel drive and a sequential, six-speed transaxle gearbox. It has a top speed of 187mph.

The gull-wing doors are supported by gas-filled struts enabling them to swing gently outwards.

The coupe sits on specially developed 20-inch tyres.
