Nissan's new X-Trial 4x4 will be priced from £16,750 for the 2.0S rising to £20,895 for the 2.2Di SE+. There is a choice of engines, a 2.0-litre 140PS petrol and 2.2-litre 114PS diesel, each available in three trim levels – S, Sport and SE+.

Every X-Trail (pictured) is equipped with electronic four-wheel drive, with three modes. Safety features include driver and passenger airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. It's the first Nissan to employ common rail technology. Diesel X-Trails are priced £1,000 above the equivalently trimmed petrol version.
