Honda's high performance Civic Type-R - built at Swindon – is set to go on sale in October for £15,995.

Powered by a 2.0-litre DOHC engine developing 200PS at 7,400rpm, the brand new i-VTEC engine gives a 0-62mph time of 6.8 seconds and a max speed of 146mph through a six-speed gearbox.

Distinguishing the Type-R's (pictured below) appearance from the conventional Civic three-door will be 17-inch wheels, front and rear spoilers, mesh-type front grille and reduced ride height. Inside it's equipped with competition style seats, white instrument faces, alloy gearstick, leather steering wheel with red stitching and metallic colour trim for the centre console and door inserts.
