TMS Motor Group has two Land Rover, two Volvo and a TVR dealership in Leicestershire, selling approximately 500 new Volvo and Land Rover models each year, together with around 60 TVR sports cars.

Attention is now being diverted to online sales. TMS has invested £80,000 in e-commerce over the past 12 months, establishing www.tmsgroup.co.uk with links to its three marques.

The group's TVR section is an impressive part of the website. Within two hours of the new TVR Tamora appearing at the British motor show, dealer staff had taken digital pictures and uploaded them onto the site. Three orders were placed after a week.

The site is one of the best for presentation. The images look good and heavy use of the TVR colours make it instantly recognisable as a TVR site. Users can interrogate a used stock list by make, model and budget or search the new car list by model. A gallery of TVR pictures and an historical description of all TVR models add to the site's interest.

The current number of facilities available is limited but those on the site work well. There is no service or parts booking facility, but there is a parts shopping function called TVR Gear. It enables users to browse for parts for individual models, check part numbers, get prices and make an order for parts online.

The Land Rover and Volvo sections include similar services to the TVR site, but also allow users to request servicing and book test drives.

The TMS website provides additional information through a link to online discount retailer Ecom cars. As well as sourcing a range of cars, users can also view the latest new car spy shots via 'New car secrets'.

TMS is set to launch a sophisticated insurance facility called 'Quote and Buy'. Customers will be able to arrange a quote and pay for cover over the website, receiving an instant online cover note. The new facility will also allow buyers to update an existing insurance policy.
