Mercedes-Benz–GLA

April 2014

Based on the latest A-Class platform, the GLA is Mercedes’ first compact SUV and boast best-in-class aerodynamics, which should help its economy and emissions. There are 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines, but fleet buyers will be drawn more to the 2.2-litre turbodiesels of the GLA200 CDI and 220CDI models. The 200 CDI produces 114g/km of CO2 emissions and 65.6mpg combined economy but comes with a reasonable 136bhp. The 200 CDI is only offered with front-wheel drive, while the GLA220 CDI has the option of 4Matic all-wheel drive. Transmissions are six-speed manuals for the less powerful motors and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox for the more potent models. On the inside, the GLA borrows much of its style from the A-Class’ interior.
