Honda aims to raise its profile in the UK and has a long term goal of doubling its current market share. But any network growth is likely to come with existing franchise owners, rather than taking on new partners. That is good news for those already onboard a brand which saw sales grow by over 6% last year and an NFDA value rating rocket from 12 to four.
Much of the current growth is driven by Accord - the 5dr only went on sale in September - and CR-V. Civic remains a steady seller, with very good used car business and high residuals, and should get a boost when a new model is launched late this year. Niche models, such as Type-R and Prelude also sell well. The brand may lack a sexy image, but it is good business.
